Built-In Carved Entertainment Center

The designer of this room was rated by Architectural Digest as one of the top five interior designers in America. I was asked to build an entertainment center that would go from the wall on the right to the soffit on the left using the same design elements that were being used in the rest of the room. This was made in seven sections, which were, under my supervision, finished by painters on site and installed by the carpentry crew.
I used carved elements produced by Raymond Enkeboll Designs for everything but the two center doors, which I carved by hand. The raised panels of the two center doors were veneered with architectural size oak burls.
I worked on several antiques and built several more pieces for this same project, including a walnut bookcase highlighted with book-matched walnut burls on the raised panels of the doors, drawer fronts, top work surface of the base, the front shelf edges, and the frame on the top book case part. One of the things I am grateful for about this work I do is that I get to meet some of the most interesting people on the planet. This couple was a delight to work with. They have remained customers and friends for close to 20 years now. They are still an inspiration to me about living life, and wearing the responsibility of great wealth with grace and dignity. How lucky can a guy get -- I get to do what I love and get paid while I do it!
